Qualifications/Requirements
Education:
Post-secondary education or a combination of relevant experience in a related field such as social work, recreation management, social sciences, education, communications, or community development.
Knowledge, Skills, and Relative Experience:
• Experience working with older adults in a variety of settings. Work with 2SLGBTQ+ older adults is an asset.
• Excellent group facilitation, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of 2SLGBTQ+ older adult population issues.
• Demonstrated understanding of program planning and evaluation.
• Demonstrated awareness of older adult resources and appropriate 2SLGBTQ+ friendly referrals.
• Demonstrated understanding of anti-oppressive practice and various forms of oppression including, but not limited to ageism, racism, sexism, xenophobia, heterosexism, and cissexism.
• Organization and detail management skills are essential, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Able to work in a multi-disciplinary team setting, while also doing independent work.
• Ability to work with Microsoft computer applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
• Experience working in a non-profit setting an asset.
• Understand trauma-informed practices, including using a harm-reduction and participant-centered approach.
• Valid full class 5 driver’s license preffered
